Niners to turn to a 3-4 Scheme
Coach Dennis Erickson said Sunday that the team, which has used the 4-3 as its base defense for the past 20 years, planned to make extensive use of the 3-4 this season, at least one-third of the time. Willy Robinson, the new defensive coordinator, came from the Pittsburgh Steelers, who have used the 3- 4 for years.
