Woods Hamstrung
Wide receiver Rashaun Woods, the 49ers' No. 1 draft pick this year, won't play in Saturday's exhibition-season opener after suffering yet another setback with his hamstrings, coach Dennis Erickson said Thursday.
"Obviously we'll keep him out until he's healthy," Erickson said. "For us to keep bringing him in and out, it's hard to plan what to do with him or our evaluation. Hopefully by Monday he will be OK and be able to practice."
Woods has participated in only five of 12 days of practice thus far in training camp. After missing the opening day while finishing up his contract, he practiced the next two days before needing treatment on both hamstrings in the Aug. 2 morning session. He missed the next week's worth of practices because of a strained right hamstring, according to the team's injury report. He returned to practice Tuesday and Wednesday but didn't work out Thursday because of tightness in his left hamstring, Erickson said.
