The talk in camp may be all about the quarterbacks, but coach Mike Nolan believes the running game to be the foundation of the offense. Nolan dodged a question when asked if rookie Frank Gore would spell Barlow during the season or compete for the starting job. He answered 'Right now, his challenge is just to get healthy,' he said.
