Gameday: Rams at 49ers

Week 1 Preview: Rams at 49ers
by Jeremy Burnham

Woohoo, football season is here. This is 49ersNews.com's first preview of the season. I have great news for you all! This year, I'm not doing all of them. I'm joined by Matt Gagnon and Erik Klackner. Each of them will take their turn at these insights in the coming weeks. This is good news, because, as you will remember, I sucked last year. I got into the bad habit of saying the Niners would win, until I got so sick of being wrong, I said we'd lose to the Cards. Then, we beat them, so I started saying we'd win again. With three of us handing the previews this year, maybe we'll put together a winning season.

However, for week one, you''re stuck with me, so on to the report.

Full Preview...
When the Niners have the ball

If I were telling the truth, I'd admit to not knowing what's going to happen. For everything, I would say 'who knows', and that would be the end of the report. However, not many of you would find that useful, so I'll lie and act like I know what I'm talking about. So, when the Niners have the ball is first. Let me say, it will depend on the protection from the offensive line. Rattay can light up the scoreboard, that's a fact. But no one can deliver the goods when one second after the snap, their faces are in the mud. Not Rattay, not Alex Smith, not even Santa Clause. The good news, is Jeremy Newberry will be playing, and this guy alone makes the line 10 times better. He also has a heck of a first name, if I do say so myself. I say the line comes through, and Rattay throws for a big game. The Niner offense will put up the points to win this game, but will the Defense hold up...

...When the Rams have the ball?

Our... Rushing Defense... SUCKS... That's what I could tell from the pre-season. Our overall D is not that bad, but the run D sucks, and that could hurt us. The Rams like to pass the ball though, and their coach isn't the brightest man in the world. My money says the Rams try to win this game through the air, in which case, the Niners will have a SHOT of winning. Do expect the Rams to put up a lot of points though, just enough to get the win.

Overall

The Niners will shock the hell out of everyone, they will FIGHT in this game. I'm guessing that they lose, but I think a win COULD happen.
