Herrion Had Heart Disease
Thomas Herrion died of heart disease that blocked a coronary artery, according to the Denver County coroner's office.
The 23-year-old 49ers guard collapsed after a preseason game in Denver on Aug. 20 and was pronounced dead shortly after 1 a.m. at a nearby hospital.
Amy Martin, a forensic pathologist and deputy coroner in Denver, said Tuesday that Herrion had ischemic heart disease and that there was "significant" blockage in his right coronary artery that caused the death of heart muscle.
