Dorsey to Start?

It's looking more and more like Ken Dorsey will start at quarterback in place of an ailing Alex Smith on Sunday when the 49ers play the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Dorsey took all the first-team practice snaps Wednesday while Smith, officially listed as questionable, watched from the sideline wearing an elastic wrap and a heavy metal brace over his strained right knee.

Coach Mike Nolan said while it appeared likely that Dorsey would start, he planned to make a final decision Thursday after getting an update on Smith's condition.
