Defense: Signs of Improvement

The San Francisco 49ers' beleaguered defense is getting better and better each week.

After a horrible start that quickly sank the team to the bottom of the NFL rankings in yards and points allowed, the unit has put together three consecutive quality performances that have kept offensively-inept San Francisco close.

But now the 49ers will see how far their defense really has come when they play the Seattle Seahawks and their top-ranked offense Sunday at Monster Park.
'They've come a good ways,' 49ers coach Mike Nolan said Thursday of his defense. 'But this will be our biggest challenge. This will be a big test. Seattle's very good and they do a lot of different things with a lot of people. I'm curious to see how this goes.'
