Dorsey Upgraded to Probable
Ken Dorsey practiced a second day Thursday without any signs of problems from his sprained left ankle, and the 49ers quarterback was upgraded to probable for Sunday's game against the New York Giants.
The improvement in Dorsey's condition probably will allow him to serve as the primary backup to Cody Pickett, who is slated to make his first career start, Coach Mike Nolan said. Newly signed Jesse Palmer would then be the third, or emergency, quarterback.
Pickett will be the fourth quarterback to start for the 49ers this season, following Dorsey, No. 1 draft pick Alex Smith and Tim Rattay, now with Tampa Bay.

Giants Don't Dismiss 49ers
New York Times: The Giants insist they will not underestimate the 2-5 San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, in part because they know the 49ers beat 5-1 Tampa Bay in their last game, and in part because it is November and the Giants have not won a game on the road.
Names may change, but Harris' job remains
San Francisco Chronicle: Whether it's Tim Rattay or Alex Smith or Ken Dorsey or Cody Pickett or even Jesse Palmer, one fact remains for the 49ers as they reach the midpoint of the season: Someone has to block for the quarterback, whoever the starter happens to be this week.
Giants threat comes three ways
San Francisco Chronicle: Like many of the better offensive teams around the NFL, the New York Giants employ a set of triplets to get the ball moving with a star running back, tight end and wide receiver.
Coach: Smith, Manning similar
Sacramento Bee: To hear Billy Davis tell it, Alex Smith is so similar to Giants quarterback Eli Manning, they might as well be brothers.
