Woods Done for the Year

The 49ers lost receiver Rashaun Woods for the season Tuesday when the former first-round draft pick was placed on injured reserve with ligament damage to his thumb.

Woods, whose brief 49ers career has been derailed by injuries to his hamstring and quadriceps, hurt his thumb last week in practice. He practiced Friday with the injury, even staying late to catch passes from quarterback Ken Dorsey. But further testing determined he needed surgery, which was performed Monday.
