McCarthy had Terrific Interview

Tom Silverstein, of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, reports the Green Bay Packers interviewed San Francisco 49ers offensive coordinator Mike McCarthy Sunday, Jan. 8. He spent almost the entire day at Packers' headquarters Sunday after arriving in Green Bay late Saturday afternoon, Jan. 7. He is one of three offensive coordinators general manager Ted Thompson has on his shopping list and the only one to have worked in the Packers' organization. According to one NFL personnel director, McCarthy is a strong candidate for the Packers' position despite hardly ever being mentioned in media circles. McCarthy's agent, Gary O'Hagan, said Sunday that McCarthy had a "terrific" interview with Thompson. O'Hagan said he is not sure where McCarthy ranks on Thompson's list of candidates.
