First Round of Cuts
The 49ers got a head start on trimming their roster Sunday, parting ways with nine players, including former third-round draft pick Andrew Williams.
When then-general manager Terry Donahue selected Williams out of Miami in 2003, the thought was that he would be a pass-rush specialist from the defensive end spot. But injuries slowed Williams' progress early, and this season he was switched to linebacker in the 49ers' new 3-4 defensive scheme.
Players Cut:
DE Josh Cooper, CB Joselio Hanson, WR Javin Hunter, LB Andrew Williams, G Paul Zukauskas, S Arnold Parker, TE Doug Zeigler, K Kirk Yliniemi, P Cole Farden.
